Artiflex in profectum

Born in Piraeus, I spent my early childhood in Athens before attending boarding school in England after which I studied Ceramics at Glasgow School of Art. Returning home permanently to Greece in 2008, I work in the maritime sector while concurrently re-discovering my art practice.

Driven by my need to make sense of my place within the multiple cultures and societies I transverse as a Third Culture Kid, my main interest is the documentation and articulation of memory on both a micro (private) and macro (public) level.

Art therapy helps me to reveal and translate the scriptio inferior written on the palimpsest of my soul; to expose the traces and scars my losses and griefs have left behind. It helps me learn to navigate the ruins of my emotional landscape and so better understand my identity and place in this world.

My voice and platform may be infinitesimally small, but it is still there. Each mark that I make, be it on paper or clay, speaks to and for how art heals - it is there for all. I sincerely hope that by sharing my journey it will help others find their way to healing like me.
